James Daly, Noted Author and Lecturer, Celebrated in Academic Philosophy

James Daly, author of "Marx: Justice and Dialectic" and "Deals and Ideals"

BELFAST, IRL, May 13, 2010 /Publishing and Books PR News/ --James Daly Ph.D., retired Senior Lecturer for Queen's University Belfast, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for demonstrating dedication, leadership and excellence in academia.

Prior to his retirement, James Daly, Ph.D., dedicated nearly 40 years to the field of academia, serving as Senior Lecturer for 30 of those years at Queen's University Belfast. A renowned figure in political philosophy, he taught and presented to his undergraduate and doctoral students different philosophical systems, basic principles, values, ethics and practices, as well as their impact on human culture.

Today, Daly is a celebrated author of two books on philosophy: "Marx: Justice and Dialectic" and "Deals and Ideals." "Marx: Justice and Dialectic" delves into the Marxist belief that justice is both essential and dialectical. Justice is a synthesis of traditional and natural law, based on the Aristotelian concept of nature as the potential for ideal fulfillment. This philosophy is radically different from the Hobbesian reductionist concept of nature as atomistic and mechanical.

"Deals and Ideals" delineate the two concepts of nature and two concepts of reason, outlining the Sophists, Plato and natural law. As Daly argues, the relation between ethics and politics can be understood through the conflict between Socrates and the Sophists. The division between them polarized two claims to enlightenment, with mutually exclusive concepts of nature, human nature, reason, the good, justice, right, law, virtue, happiness and freedom.

Distinguished by his existential intent in philosophy, Daly holds a Ph.D. from Queens University Belfast. Active within his professional community, he intends to write and publish a third book within the next five years.
