TOLEDO, OH, April 20, 2010 /Publishing and Books PR News/ --Renay M. Scott, Ph.D., Interim Provost of the School of Arts and Science/Health Sciences at Owens Community College, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for demonstrating dedication, leadership and excellence in higher education.
A 25-year professional in higher education, Renay M. Scott, Ph.D. now thrives in her third year as Interim Provost at Owens Community College. An expert in the field of social studies, she oversees the School of Arts and Science/Health Sciences. There, she assesses student learning, institutional research and the honors program. Dr. Scott is the published author of "American Revolution," a book on closing the gap between professors and teachers. She also delivers lectures on the needs of adolescents as related to the study of social studies. Her leadership style, both collaborative and compassionate with a focus on building the strengths of those around her, has distinguished Dr. Scott at Owens Community College.
Dr. Scott initially became involved in instruction through her love for teaching. She attended Michigan State University, where she earned a master's degree, and later Wayne State University for her Ph.D. in curriculum and instruction. She also worked as a professor at Central Michigan University for 17 years and taught in a high school for five. She attributes her success to her focused nature, knowledge and commitment, and hopes to work toward making higher education more affordable as she moves forward in her career. Dr. Scott is a member of the Ohio Council for the Social Studies, National Council for the Social Studies, National Middle School Association and Organization of American Historians.
